Can evolver make warm Boards of Canada like sounds.

Can evolver make warm Boards of Canada like sounds.

2006-04-10 by rivotk2003

Ive heard all sorts of crazy, sequenced, bright sounds with the
Evolver, but im wondering if it can make nice warm, vintage Boards of
Canada style pads. Real nostalgic sounding stuff. I cant find any
demos like this anywhere. Anyone have any?

thanks.

Well, it has analog filters...but DCOs... I'm sure it
is possible...with the proper processing. Most of
what you hear that makes the BOC sound is post
porcessing of their sounds... they don't use that much
stuff that is not effected / degraded.

Not quite what you asked for, but maybe my latest sunday evening quickie
gives at least a small impression of the warmer Evolver side:

I'd recommend a judicious use of oscillator detuning. Adding a slow, shallow vibrato also helps. Sometimes BoC gets too carried away with it and makes me kind of nauseous, but that's the curse of having good ears. ;)

Yeh those are close to what im talking about. But there is still some
harshness that I hear. Maybe its the filter.
Here are some sounds that i want to get close too.
<a
href="http://www.bluesynths.com/modules.php?name=Sounds&rop=getfile&id=485">Prophet
strings</a>
and
<a
href="http://www.bluesynths.com/modules.php?name=Sounds&rop=getfile&id=479">Prophet
 Pulse</a>

now I know these are prophet sounds, so why dont I get a prophet. Well
space is an issue, midi, and I dont need more keyboards. Modules would
be nice. and I figured Dave Smith made the prophet, so im sure his new
machine can get close to this.
