Anyone using Vyzor Evolver?

Anyone using Vyzor Evolver?

2007-02-14 by Yutaka Nakamura

Hi folks,

I haven't been following the list for a while, and I am wondering if
anyone here is using Vyzor on OS X? I've noticed that it hasn't
moved on from Pre-Release stage for a long time - are they still
alive? Is it working well for you? I like touching knobs more than
a mouse, so I'd be using it more as just a librarian... I'm running
Cubase SX 3.1.1 on G5 2 GHz here.

Thanks!!

I am using it on PC and it hasn't really been working
very well for me. It crashes Ableton when I run it as
a VST and it doesn't seem to be able to recieve sysex
when it is not crashing my program. If it is not
running as a VST then it takes over the midi in and
out that it is working on making it so you can't run
any other kind of midi into like a keyboard or your
sequencer or whatever you want to be using.

It's visually stunning and well layed out but the
function is lacking dramatically. I don't know what
the deal with the pre-relase thing is either. I am
waiting for them to move it to full relase so I can
get an upgrade.

So anyhow that is my two cents on the whole issue. I
would say just get the DaveSmith editor.

Thanks for the endorsement Matt. Though we do hate to see anyone in the editor software endeavor have difficulties, it can put a damper on all of our fortunes if people get turned off, we do love our own product!
For the chap that asked the initial question you can check our software out for the PEK in demo version free.

Hi Matt & Derek,

Thanks for the replies. I was not aware of the fact Sound Tower one
is available for OS X. I will try it out!

Thanks again.

All the best,

Hi Matt,

While you describe the Vyzor Evolver issues you've encountered in
Ableton Live 6 very colorfully, you forgot to mention that Vyzor
Evolver does run flawlessly as a stand-alone editor and that the
other editor you recommended doesn't actually offer VST features in
addition to stand-alone operation.

Also, you should be aware that the MIDI port trouble you attributed
to Vyzor Evolver in stand-alone operation is a consequence of your
MIDI interface having single-client drivers. If you download the
Sound Tower demo the issues you describe will apply to their editor
software as well. FYI.

Nonetheless, as a Vyzor Evolver user you are in line for some
excellent news: Please stay tuned to the Vyzor Evolver pre-release
group for the big announcement that will be coming in the next week
or so.

Cheers,

Tony
