Evolver - polychaining issue

Evolver - polychaining issue

2007-03-23 by shipwright_micron

Hi!
I've just acquired a PER to go along with my MED and I'm a very happy little camper
indeed!
But...

I seem to be having a problem when polychaining them together.
Voice stealing, to be specific.

Say you play and hold a note - ok, MED plays the sound, great.
Now, while stil holding the note, you tap another note - MIDI spills over, PER plays voice1,
LED lights up, ok.
tap another - PER plays voice2, LED lights up, ok
tap another - PER plays voice3, LED lights up, ok
tap another - PER plays voice4, LED lights up, ok
tap another - no sound!
tap another - PER plays voice1, LED lights up, all ok...

it would seem that, when the chained setup cycles through the four PER voices, it should
skip to the next unused note. Since the MED note is still pressed, that would be PER
voice1, right? Yet, it seems to try to steal the note from the MED and fails, producing no
sound, and only skips to the PER voice1 on the next keypress.

Also, try playing a three-note chord (all three notes being pressed at the same time)
I'd get:

3 notes
2 notes + a silent one!
3 notes
...

BTW, everything is connected according to the polychaining instructions in the manual,
both Evo's are latest revisions.
It's probably just some stupid thing that I'm somehow overlooking, but I'm kinda stuck.

Any idea, anyone?
Thanks!
