output levels: mono vs. poly
2007-04-09 by acmcgowan
Hello all: I don't check in here too often because, frankly, I don't have the time. It's nice to see so many energetic discussions, even the critical ones. First, let me say that if you have an issue or problem, you can always call or email DSI. We're generally pretty good about responding within 24 hours on weekdays, and sometimes even on weekends. As to the issue of the different output levels, you can take this as the official word: The mono and poly instruments have different output levels. As someone rightly pointed out, the mono instruments need less headroom because they have only one voice, so the outputs are optimized for the best signal-to-noise. We get very few inquiries about this and have been very open about it when we do. In fact, when people make presales inquiries about using mono and poly Evolvers together, I volunteer the information whether they ask or not. We are also aware that we could do a better job of communicating information like this, especially via the Web site. There is a new site in development and we hope to include all kinds of helpful stuff for users and prospective users. Cheers, Andrew McGowan The Other Guy Dave Smith Instruments andrew@... PS: Don't take this as a sign I'll be monitoring the forum more closely. If you have a question or a problem, feel free to email me directly.
