Thanks Derek for your gracious response.
Could you tell it was 3:00 am when I posted ?
Once I grasp the utility of the program, perhaps I'll offer specific
suggestions....not because I'm any sort of expert in that area,
but because I'll have had a "run around the track" with it.

I scanned through the PDF, and the only reference I could find about
importing a sysex file, is in the "Update OS" feature.
Am I mistaken? Is there another way?
Could a sysex file containing just banks or patches be run through the
"Update OS" utility, without getting any OS files involved?

I have a hunch (not tried it yet) that a way it can be done, is to
transfer new sysex banks/patches to the evolver by using midiOX first,
then open SoundEditor and transfer the (now new) evolver banks into
SoundEditor, and saving those banks using SoundEditor's file
systems/extension types. (?)

Hey Randy,
Last, but not least, on my list before the weekend. I'm not sure I understand the problem with progarm upload. I don't have my helpfile on this computer and for somereason my IE crashes right now when I try to download the copy from the site so I am just running the program right now in demo mode and using my faint recollections of the helpfile.
It seems to me that there are at least two ways of getting program data to the editor other than by MidiOx to the hardware then upload to SE.
1. File->LoadAllEvolverData Ctrl-O will open a load file dialogue box that will be set to load .evl extended files.
2. Program->LoadSingleProgram will open a load file dialogue box that will be set to load .evp extended files.
and
3. Program->LoadProgramBanksTo -> (select one of bank A - D for PolyEvo) will open a load file dialuge box that will be set to load .ebp extended files.
I'll check over the weekend when I can get the pdf downloaded to see if it was missed or included in an inappropriate section.
I hope this answered your question or at least helped you along a little. If you want please send a note to derek@... or here.
Best for the weekend my friend,
Derek

Re: [Evolver] thanks SoundTower / documentation / sysex

Derek,
I am trying to import ".syx" files. The most common file type
available for users banks / extra evolver banks.
I believe there is no issue here regarding the other file types.
The documentation covers those, but not sysex types.

Oh so sorry!
Use the OS update to load any .syx file. It is set to work for program banks and for update files. The program parses the header for the desired action and works accordingly.
If you want the banks file (which is the bank set of programs/patches with each individual headers stripped and only one main header and footer for the set. It is compressed as well I believe) just load it with the OS update under File menu and it should get you were you want to be.
I believe it will take the file, send it to Evo and then you poll or load all banks from SE and Bob's you uncle.
I hope this answers your question now.

hi,

not sure if it has been mentioned already... for sysex banks you can
also use the bank manager. convenient for previewing sounds without
uploading the whole bank.

File -> Program Librarian -> Librarian (right side) -> Load evolver file
-> choose "sysex" in the "file type" dropdown.

hope this help
cheers
