Osc Slop

Osc Slop

2008-02-03 by synthmdl76

Hi. Just wondering, I have a basic patch setup and I notice no
difference between osc slop 0 and 5. Am I missing something or is it
just not noticable?

It s subtle. If you want more sloppiness, use an LFO or 2 (1 modulating the other s amount/rate/etc...)

thanks for the reply.. I just found this on ex5tech

Good question, Philippe. The exact amount isn't specified in the
manual, and I've never measured it myself. I CAN hear it, though.

Try doing this: Set up a simple two oscillator sustaining patch, using
osc 1 & 2, making sure that both oscillators are set to the same
pitch, with no detuning, no "Osc Slop", and with NO modulation
whatsoever. Set the "Output Pan" to mono. Now play a relatively high
note on the keyboard, say C5 or so. You should hear VERY little, if
any, "beating" from the two oscillators being out of tune with each
other. (I assume that you know what "beating" is. If not, holler back.)

Now set the "Osc Slop" of one of the oscillators to "5". Play C5
again, and hold the note for several seconds. Also try playing the
note repeatedly. Hear the difference? Let us know how it goes.

BTW, I see this is your first post, so welcome to EX5Tech!
