User Waveforms

So i've loaded a few of my own waveforms into my Evolver. The thing is, they largely sound the same. I'm probably not editing the waveform properly is my guess. What do you guys do when making your own waveforms? Basically, i just go into Soundforge, pick a sound, edit it down to 128 samples, save it as a mono wave file. Then load it into the Wavedump utility. Am i way off base here? -Larry
