audio bleeds past filter in OSC SYNC mode

audio bleeds past filter in OSC SYNC mode

2008-04-05 by staplesyrup

when i sync osc1 and osc2, and turn down all the oscillators to zero i can hear an unfilterd
quiet signal coming from the oscillators. it makes no difference how the filter is set. this
noise is audible in some patches, so i can't cleanly filter a sync'd sound.....anyone else come
across this?

Is the Ring Mod on?

you mean digital osc (3, and 4) ring mod?

no , all digital fm and ring mod is set to zero.

Are you modulating filter cutoff with the oscillators? I forget exactly what it is called but it's something like Audio Amount in the Filter section, or something like that. Another possibility is that you have the resonance cranked way up, and the filter is self oscillating.

Re: audio bleeds past filter in OSC SYNC mode

Hi

I noticed this too but not just for synced sounds but for all of them.
It's only really noticeable on higher pitched sounds, if the filter
cutoff is very low and especially if I've added compression. I emailed
DSI about it and they responded very quickly saying it's a quirk of the
filter chip and can't be fixed.

So now, if it's noticeable on any recordings I just use an extra
software low pass filter to cover up the bleed and for live I'm not
bothered about it. Hope that helps.
