PEK Output Hack

PEK Output Hack

2008-09-15 by synthmdl76

So just wondering how its supposed to sound?
Anyone have a mp3 example?
It seems all it does for me is make my output noisy.

when I turn it up high, I just get static(white noise) on the output.
even when pressing no keys.

only way it sounds like it does anything is by turning it to 12-14.

I get no bit rate reduction type sounds out of it other than at 12-14.
but then at that high of a level I can hardly hear the oscillators
over the white noise.

well this is odd...
if I turn the high pass filter to 1 the white noise goes away but it
just does not work right.

the sound is not consistant. some notes may hardly sound while others
do.

and the sound of the oscillators will come in and out at random when
no keys pressed.

I think Im going to call DSI on this one. but just wondering if im the
only one?

mine does the same thing
I am not sure other than distortion sounds, how to use it musically
well not in what I do anyway ... ;-)

cool! thanks for the reply.
I just called DSI and Andrew is going to call me back tomorrow to let
me know if it happens on his to.

He said if all the other digital stuff is working then the hack should
also work. which makes since being that al the digital is handled by
the same DSP. I bet its the same on all the pek.

I will let you all know what the answer is when I hear back.

SWEET!!!.. I think I figured it out here....

Distortion needs to be set to NG (noise gate) or 1 or above, anything
but 0.

and of course your osc 1 and/or 3 needs to be at a level of at least
around 3 because they are what control the distortion noise gate (page
58 of the definitive guide to Evolver)

Try that out and let us know your outcome.

still does not melt any butter here ;-)
