Deeep basses with evolver?

Deeep basses with evolver?

2003-03-05 by Riccardo Coen

Hi there,

I am having trouble making deeeeep bass sounds with the evolver, the
only way I managed so far is to use a keytracked filter with hi
resonance. Unfortunately it imposes a limit over what it can sound
like.

I'm not talking of sub-bass, even if I got used to it with the mQ.

It seems like the oscillators of the evolver have a minimum tuned 1
octave higher than all my other synths. I am working with the Osc
frequency at C [the lowest] if I lower the Key Xpose the only thing
it does it plays the same note on the lower keys [i.e. it reaches
the minimum it can play].

According to the manual, `C' is 8Hz, which is pretty damn low...
Perhaps your keyboard is sending high note numbers?

[I seem to have no problem getting extremely low pitches with external midi
input]

Found it...

The transpose was at +36 for some very very obscure reason... The
funny thing, I think is that it must have shipped that way from the
factory, as I always had to play the evolver in the lowest octaves to
get a normal sound...

hee hee hee stupid me. Now back to programming.

Thanks anyway,
