Best Sounding Drum Module?

2004-10-15 by zapaxe

Hello again,

What is YOUR vote for the BEST sounding Drum Module? It seems to me
that each module like anything else has it's high points as far as
sounds & samples.

I have just recently purchased a Yamaha DTXpress III drum module and
an Alesis DM Pro drum module, plus I already had the DTXpress I
module and I was looking for better sounds...

I have not hooked up the two new drum modules to my DTXpress I kit
yet, but I've played with each module only 'briefly' and Demo'd some
sounds of both with headphones. I'm not completely blown away as I
had hoped.

The DM Pro cymbal sounds seem better and more real to me. The Demo
songs on the DM Pro sound less 'cheesy' than the DTXpress III
module. The DM Pro is 20 bit sample rate and the DTXpress III is as
you know 16 bit for what it's worth.
I've not had enough time to play with the sounds so it's a bit early
to tell which one I like better.

The DM Pro has a PCMCIA Expansion Slot for which I have not read the
manual about and don't know exactly what it's for, but hoping that
it will enable me to load new sample into it!...?

I did play on a Roland V kit a year or so ago and I was also not
blown away by it's sounds.

Thanks, Steve

I supose a software drum sampler is the way to go for sounds, but
I've not taken the time to learn how to incorporate drum samplers,
interface's such as Battery with Cubase VST 32/5.1...
