Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Does anyone play a DTX with some acoustic cymbals thrown in?   
Instead of getting a IIIS, I was thinking about getting a III and 
using my own acoustic cymbals.   

The trick is I need to play quietly because I am in an apartment.  
(And I haven't played my acoustic kit in a long time because of 
that.)   I'm thinking maybe I can get by, by getting used to hitting 
the acoustic cymbals lightly so as to keep the volume moderate.    

By using acoustic cymbals and HH, I can have the equivalent of a 
IIIS kit for the price of a III.   I just got this brainstorm. 

Anyone in a similar situation play like that?  I wonder if it will 
throw me off by trying to hit them softer than the cymbal and drum 
pads or if I can get used to it.  Any thoughts?
