Well I can answer my own question now. =) I headed over to GC this earlier today and put the xpress and xtreme and Roland V-Pro to the test. As expected, the V-Pro sounded the best overall. The xtremeIIs is pretty much the same sound set as the xpressIII with nicely upgraded acoustic drum sounds and cymbals. The online MP3 demos on dtxperience.com are actually of the xtreme, although in the context of the demo songs they are very unimpressive to me. Thankfully the kit sounded much better in person. I must also say that out of all the kits I simply had the most fun playing the XtremeIIs! This kit is very playable and just has an excellent 'feel' to it. The hihat is very responsive! The triple-zone toms were great. Roland's snare and toms have this large black rim around them that seemed to get in the way of my playing. I'm no expert though so it was probably my fault. But in the end I've got to say that in terms of price/performance the yammy dtxtremeIIs is tops. Well I never did get a chance to play a ddrum4, but i believe the sound quality of the xtremeIIs is good enough for my needs, and it's features just put it over the top. And it can also be had for a much lower price than I originally thought. So it looks like I'm gonna be goin with the DTXtremeIIs! It will make a nice Christmas gift for myself... =) Ken --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "K2500X" <drdistefano@y...> wrote: > > I was just wondering if anyone on here has done a side by side > comparison of these two modules?
