Hi Randy
Glad to hear that the upgrade work OK. I too have thought about this upgrade but was told by my local shop that the pad didn't work as a straight plug in on the XpII. Was this the case ?

Hi folks,
I have been contemplating an upgrade of the snare on my DTXpressII
kit. My wife found out and was trying to "help" me out with a new
snare for Christmas. She purchased a 14" Pintech with a mesh head.
Nice drum, but way too big for the set. (You're right Ed) I also
found the action to be so different from the other pads, it was
difficult to play. I decided to return the pintech and purchase a
TP100 from Drumbalaya. This is the pad Yamaha uses for the toms on
the DTXtremeIIS. Wow what a nice upgrade! The size fits the set
well, and the action is great. You know how when trying to "slide"
around the pads with the standard pads, the rubber has a tendency to
grab the stick out of your hand? Well, not with the TP100. This pad
feels and plays much more like a acoustic. I think the meshes are OK
when grouped together in a set, but these new TP100 and TP120 pads
are great with the DTXpress sets.
My 2 cents,
Happy New Year
Randy
