Sorry to disappoint you, and sorry to blab on if you've already read my other posts, but here I go again, on my one man crusade. The rims on the stereo lines use a different trigger to the main pads. That means a normal pad will not, ever , trigger a true signal to the rim inputs. If anyone can prove me wrong, I'd be overjoyed, but I'm afraid it is just the nature of the internal electronics. Yamaha have wired this (and the DTXPro) so that you can only use their pads, or a compatible manufacturers. The less scheptical reason is that the rim trigger system Yamaha use allows for more flexibility, sich as cymbal damping. I am interested that you get a signal when you set the input "rim to pad" so that the rim signal also triggers the pad sound, I am surprised that the brain even registers that a pad has been hit. Most interesting, I will look into this further. But the final truth, as admitted by Yamaha and supported by Pintech is that a standard trigger pad WILL NOT be recognised as a rim trigger. Good to see people supporting Pintech though, one of my favourite companies, great customer relations department.
