I haven't looked to see what the II has been fetching lately, but it
seems like a good deal. If you have a certain amount of buyer's
remorse when you start thinking about a III, forget it. The only
remotely logical step up from a DTXpressII within the DTXpress camp
would be the IIISP, with its round cymbals, hi hat, and slightly
different sounds. But the price of $1500 vs. $650 hardly justifies it
in my book, especially when you consider that the cymbals and hi hat
are largely compatible with the module/kit that you own already. You
can upgrade gradually as you see fit and eventually get most of the
benefits of the IIISP in a more cost-effective way. Later, if your
interest really takes off, you could spend money instead on something
even more elaborate. To my mind, you did good, assuming that the II is
in good condition. Check in with us if you notice anything that seems
to be amiss.
