Tim,

As C.J. said, in general mix n' match between Roland and Yamaha works
okay, at least. In effect, however, Roland modules have a better time
adapting to Yamaha pads than Yamaha modules do to Rolands's, or any
other manufacturer's. The rubber Rolands will work on Yamaha, but not
necessarily with the same finesse as a comparable Yamaha pad would. To
tell you the truth, I'd see if Ed Morin has a used Yamaha pad at
Drumbalaya before I bought a PD-7. The technology is basically the
same, but all sorts of small variables can change the response enough
to make a palpable difference.

By the way, did any of you happen to notice the DTXpressIII SP selling
currently on ebay with a "Buy It Now" price of $3500? The "awesome
extras" that apparently justify a price that exceeds that of a new
DTXtreme IIS by $1,000 are a Fender amp, a set of headphones, a double-
kick pedal, and two pairs of sticks. Leaving aside that the Fender amp
is most likely a guitar amp, which would be inadequate with an e-drum
kit, the idea that the cost of these extras could possibly raise the
price of even a little-used DTXPIIISP to $2,000 above its fixed
selling price new has me scratching my head--hard enough to scrape my
brain. Did I miss something?
