punk/rock

hey everybody. haven't ever posted here, so i apologize if i say something stupid. i got a dtxpress2 more than a year ago cuz i lived in an apartment and wouldn't have been able to jam loudly and i was looking to learn drums. since then, i've been just programming drums via midi and having the dtxpress play them for my recordings. i know electronic drums aren't traditionally used in punk and hard rock, but i'm wondering if anybody could recommend a decent kit setup for that type of music. i'm using a custom one a drummer i know made, but i'm curious what anybody else does.. i want a pretty realistic sound. i know there's a limit to how real it can be, but if anybody could get me some hints on a basic setup that might work for me. maybe just the drum sounds you're using and the tunings (if any) for the individual drums. if this is asking too much, i apologize. i know the best way to find a sound i want is to experiment, but its kind've a daunting task and i'd like a base setup that might get me started.
thanks,
justin
