RE: Spam:[DTXpress] Berhinger Amp Box

2005-08-05 by Damon, Rob

It's been a busy week and it's Friday afternoon and the boss is gone, so
I figured I would kick back, put my feet up on the desk and fan the
flames a little. Who's bringing the Beer????

I have the KX-1200 (and the Roland KC500). The Roland I bought with my
first Dtxpress II kit by choice and have been very happy with it. The
Berhinger came as a "freebie" with my Dtxtreme IIS, so I didn't have
much choice in the matter. But with that said for home use at low to
medium volumes it works fine and I have had no problems with it. In a
head to head comparison with the Roland, volume wise, the low end freq.
distorts at higher volume levels, where the Roland does not. In the low
volume to medium volume the low and high end freq. seem on par, but with
the extra 6" speaker in the Berhinger, it seems to have a little edge in
the mid-range Freq. over the Roland.

For daily use in the mid and high range volume levels, I don't think I
would buy the KX-1200, but I would buy the Roland again. So I use the
Roland with the Edrums. The Behringer is connected to a CD-Player, so
when the neighbor hood kids get outside and crank up their boom boxes, I
just put on some Country/Western and crank the volume to 7. It's amazing
how quickly they move on to somebody else's yard to play in. : ) It may
not be the perfect edrum amp, but it can sure kick butt, when it comes
to competing with a boom box.

As far as the "box" issue, it seems to me to be more a practical issue.
If you need to "ship" it back to where you bought from for warranty
repairs, the box was designed for shipping it around the world safely.
Mine actually came as a box in a box, and was very well protected.
Better than the Roland was. But because I got it from a local store, I
had no reason to save the boxes. But if you were returning it under a 30
day try it and return it if you are not completely satisfied policy,
most stores here in the U.S. require that you return everything in a
re-saleable condition, including blank warranty cards. (The boxes did
make wonderful little club houses for the neighbor's kids until they got
wet and fell apart.)

Have a great weekend.
