As a previous owner of the first DTXpress module (I have since
traded up to a DTXtreme) I managed to tweak my hi-hat sounds to
sound really good. I could tell you what sounds I selected, but
they were made redundant when Yamaha brought out the DTXPress II and
III versions. You really need to play around with the sounds until
you get what you consider is the best. Don't forget that you can
program Voices 1 and 2 to get a hybrid of sounds for the closed,
open and foot sounds on your hi-hat. (That is something that I
cannot do with my DTXtreme, which having spent all the extra money
on the new module is quite annoying! I can only program a single
voice for the hi-hat because the brain is wired differently.) For
extra information, see the DTXpressions site and click on Tips &
Tricks.
