Re: once again, dtxpress III and midi triggering in pc questions.

2006-12-29 by zapaxe

Hi Francisco...I use Cubase VST 32 with my DTXpress III module...when
you say USB connection??? Huh??? My DTXpress III doesn't have a USB???
unless newer versions came out? At any rate, I'm using a "To Host"
cable to my PC using CBX drivers, which work as good as regular midi
cables, but I only need one cable for midi in/out with the To Host
serial type cable...
BTW, I'm guessing that your computer's serial port is activated and
working?
You DO know that midi itself does not transmit audio?
Did you select Cubase's midi channel 10? Then in Cubase have you
selected the 'OUTPUT'? (if not you won't get anywhere)Once your Output
in Cubase is set...which you either select Yamaha CBX drivers if you
want to use the DTXpress for output, or if you're using a software
Drum VSTi, you must 1st open that drum VSTi (or DXi if Cakewalk?)from
your VST Instruments list, then select that instrument as your output
for that midi channel 10. Sorry I've never used Cubase SX so can't
help you there...But if you go to www.cubase.net you can ask other SX
users those specifics.

I beginning to use my ekit to trigger various software drum
VSTi's...Groove Agent, Jamstix, and EZ Drummer.

In Cubase VST 32's transport bar there's a midi in/out indicator...in
SX??? If you don't see the midi bar lights lit, you don't have a midi
signal. Sometimes for no reason I don't get a midi signal (from my
Alesis keyboard lately anyways)I then either have to reboot or close
and reopen Cubase...?
Check you midi set up in Cubase as well. Hope that helps any..
