Perry, not sure if your KP65 is still under warranty (I think warranty 
is 1 year)....if it is Yamaha is pretty good to deal with when it comes 
to customer satisfaction. My KP65's rubber cover was wearing out 
awfully bad and consequnetly damaged the trigger. I called Yamaha 
Customer Service and after explaining the situation they took my 
address and sent me new trigger. I still use the same rubber pad except 
now I put a Remo Falam Slam on it and for the last two years that has 
worked fine. Good Luck
