Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi,
do anyone know if is it possible to get the dtxpress iv to send the
metronome clicks as a midi event on the midi out port? I'm writing a
simple groove check program, and having a good sync with the click is
obviously important. Currently I use the count-in for songs (which are
sent as midi notes) to calculate the beat/tempo, but it's not quite
good enough. Especially for songs with a high tempo it will tend to
drift a bit out of sync after a while.
I'm really a newbie when it comes to midi, but the only messages I've
seen apart from note events from the drums/songs are clock and
activesens(I'm using the midishare library, this name doesn't show up
many other places...) events, which only have a timestamp and no other
data inside.
