Matt,

I assume the only inputs you have spare are 9/10/11/12.  If so, you
can only use a mono (single zone pad) on those inputs.  You need a Y
splitter or "parallel cable" as Yamaha call it - see page 9 of the
manual.  So, if you want to use input 12, remove TOM3 connector and
add the Y splitter and replace the TOM3 connection.  The new cymbal
then goes into the other Y splitter connection.  You will then need to
edit your trigger menu to say what pad you have added, and edit the
voice for each kit you use.
