How to "clean up" the snare?

2009-09-26 by tjsmithmusic

Guys, I have the DTX and I notice that every snare sample has this "paper tear" "pink noise" distortion in it. It comes right at the end of the main snare patch. I've tried isolating it by turning down the volume of one of the snares (i.e. S1) but it seems that Yamaha put this simulated "snare" sound on every patch. It's frustrating because I can't find a snare that is totally clean. Have you had any luck removing this added on "dirty" sound that is present? I've turned off any reverbs and still have no luck. It's not on any other sounds, I havene't dropped it, never been abused and it's definitely part of the original creation of the unit. I'm about ready to use this module as a paper weight and get me a Roland. HELP!
