In Search of a Bass drum trigger...(one that's padded like the KP-65)

2010-04-14 by Don

Hello Everyone,
I'm Don from So. Fl. and although I'm a newbie here I've been drumming since 1958 where I started in my Dad's 1930's Leedy-Ludwig set. I switched to keyboards & Synths F/T in '76 to keep the band together & avoid getting a day/job during my touring days.
I then left the business & ART completely some 4 years ago. It wasn't fun anymore for reasons I'll save for another letter. In the past 2 years I've experienced what can only be called "Old fart's
and Senior moments". Then, last Christmas, I had an "awakening"--I have a few good songs & some decent God-given talents left in me... NOT to share !!!
So even though I'm now retired, I've slowly built my DTX from the ground up al-la-cart and I'm missing 1 part=a Bass drum trigger.
I'm presently using an ION drum PAD jerry-rigged to my Yamaha DTXpress II rack-it works but as u all can imagine-my old '73 Pearl peddle needs adjustment after every song.
Does anyone here know of or own a spare & is willing to sell me a 'working' drum trigger ???
I've searched the net & found that the Yamaha KP65 is back-ordered 'til April 30th (in most cases) & it goes for $60+ S&H.

Should i find a way to drill holes into the pedal & put 2 screw-like parts that would 'Break" the pedal's movements--nah, that's sounds like it could break the pedal.
Anyone who has ANY constructive ideas please 'e'-me.

Thanks for all your time reading me.
Regards,
Don
