Had my dtxpress iii a few weeks now. Added roland cy5 and cy8 and have swapped the pedal for a fantastic dw9000. Settling into it nicely. First couple of weeks I couldn't play for too long as the bounciness of the pads were giving me sore fingers. I found the heavier the stick the less likely it is to hurt after a while. I can play now for over an hour without any issues now. Great! I am nervous though about stepping back on to an acoustic kit one day for fear of looking like bambi on ice! Also it took me a week or 2 to get the 'biting point' of the hi-hat pedal. I am getting better every day. My drumming is coming along amazingly well. I am not exactly an accomplished drummer by any stretch. Inspired by local Heroine Susan Boyle (SuBo) I decided to dream my dream and get some drums. I have only really been into drumming for a year or so but I found with a 2 year old in the house chances to play the acoustic kit I got were few and far between, then I got a Dragon mesh kit which was good but it was, err well silent so this year I decided to get the best of both worlds and get an electronic kit. I have found the dtxpress's play along songs a bit cheezy and I find the groovometer distracting and just can't get into playing with a metronome so last night I searched my ipod and found some songs that don't have any percussion to play along with. This is working out great for me and I love playing along with some great ol' tunes from Hank Williams to Glasvegas. Although the majority are quite slow numbers It is really helping me get into a groove and keep good time. Does anyone else do this or is it just me? If so what is your fave 'drumless' track to drum to? O and any tales of stepping up to an acoustic kit after playing an electronic kit for a while would be interesting.
