HI MrPink52,
Congrats on your purchase !! :) Welcome to the club & Never, ever consider
yourself "late to the show." Just enjoy the fact you are able to afford the
price of admission considering the "Great Recession."
It's never too late. I got my DTXpress via a nice family about 2 years ago
after constantly visiting my local Best Buy & playing their set (I brought my
own headphones to avoid ''couties" the name given GERMS from the early 1960's.)
I then sold a vintage synth & was able to afford a DTXtreme 'brain.'
That's the beauty of these drum kits--you can upgrade w/o having to take a
beating on reselling what you already paid your hard earned cash for. All I
know, the $ I've saved by playing my electro-drums rather than seeing a
psyche-Doctor has more than made up for any expence.
Now to your question about the KP-80S---I am NO expert but if you were in the
"CASH-CAB" gave me a 'shoutout' I'd tell you you invested in a damn good backup
BASS drum. :) jUST KEEP IN MIND THERE ARE ELECTRONICS INSIDE that pad--so don't
kill it w/ a heavy foot. My set didn't come w/ a bass, so i had to look all
over e-bay for one--I caught a break especially, when u find that a new one goes
for $60+tx. As for will it be better , equal or worse than the stock one--to
me...that's purely subjective.
ENJOY the fact that you will never have to buy a drumhead or chop up your
sticks from rim-shots...again. Oh yea, I wish I had these in the 60's so my Old
Man (a drummer himself) wouldn't have yelled at me every time he came home from
work to 'tone it down' or all the old farts at gigs who complained "it's too
loud !" even during Big Band Music (U may be too young to remember the Big
Bands of the 30's & 40's. I was 8 when I played that old fart music in my pop's
band--but the $ I made doing those songs kept me from having a paper rout AND
bought me cool stuff like a GE 12 transistor radio !! AND a new 3-gear English
bike... How's that for cool stuff !)
Now, if i could only afford another YAMAHA that would be a YAMAHA PSR-S910
!!!
So Rock ON My Pink :) ROCK ON.
Best of luck w/ the new set.
Regards,
Don (So. Florida)
St. Jude help us all.
