The two zones in Yamaha and Roland drums is implemented with a "force-sensitive resistor". When you apply a force to this, the resistence decrease, and works like a switch, off = open = high resistence , on=closed=low resistence It's a digital input, and the drum brain interprets the force you have applied in the analog input ( piezo ). Did you understand? Excuse me for my bad english. You can simulate this switch with a piezo and a transistor working like a switch. Can anybody explain this "condenser" stuff that is supposed to be used for the two-zone Yamaha pads? I have also heard people refer to a force-sensitive resistor (FSR), and I think I know what that is, I just don't know how or if it is used for the DTX.
