Welcome Keith, Susan told us to expect you.  I hope you were blown 
away with your Christmas present - she did her homework.

Anyway, the bottom line on the headphone issue is many of us have 
invested in mixers or other methods of blending drums and extranal 
audio devices to achieve decent sound.  Some people are happy with 
buying more expensive headphones, it is somehwat a matter of your 
indivudual tolerance I guess.  You can find many posts on the subject 
if you search the message database and make your own decision.  The 
onboard system should give you enough noise to cover up the pad noise 
though.  I suspect that you need to make sure you've got the volumes 
turned up for the pads, the Aux In, etc..

The next one on your list is that you hear the Rdie when you bang on 
the toms, this is more than likely a conbination of the sensitivity 
settings and the rack's ability to transmit vibrations.  Depending on 
many variables (like how hard you strike, what material you'ge got the 
kit setup on, where the pads are on the rack, so on..) you may need to 
add a little more support to the rack if nothing else works.  We can 
give you help in finding parts if you need to.  

For the last one, your snare's performance, use the manual to go 
through the trigger settings closely for that pad, option by option.  
Sometimes setting things high has the wrong effect, read each one and 
experiment a little to help you understand what is possible.  When I 
got mine I had to go through the book each time I adjusted things, or 
I goofed them up.  The pads, although not the only ones available, 
should track most of what average drummers can dish out.  Consider 
this tweaking the equlivant of tuning an accoustic set, only here you 
get to set up a bunch of them and store them for later use as your 
user kits.
