The switches on the dual pads are meant to adjust the plus or minus 
polarity of the trigger outputs for use with different brains. 
Apparently, the wrong polarity setting will result in a weaker 
signal. Though some people claim to hear differences in audio 
products when polarity is switched, I've never heard them. Whether 
they have any effect on our beloved DTX is beyond me, but I suppose 
you can check easily enough by changing the default on the kick pad.
