well first off i've been playing drums for 23 yrs. and just started playing a e-drum kit about a year ago,it really depends on what you are looking for feature wise?? now i have owned a dm5 module before i switched over to running 2 dtxpress modules on my current set-up,and while the alesis was a great module it really kind of left me thirsty for more(so to speak)unlike having just basically voices being it's key feature of the dm5,the dtxpress module has alot of very useful features such as a 2 track sequencer, the general midi voices(keyboard voices) pad assignment ,the aux input for cd or tape players,a host jack for linking to the internet, the abilty to download user kits from the internet designed by other users of the dtxpress, and on board metronome, the groove check feature,95 preset songs to play along with, the ability to create your own user songs and store them to play along with(via the gm voices, and a midi compliant keyboard),plus tons of features that you can use to to change alot of the parameters of the voices that are in the module to your liking..now i'm not a biased drummer in any way,but once i plugged in my first of the 2 dtxpress modules i own,i felt alot better on the decision i made to sell off my dm5,and replace it with the dtxpress (now 2) as far as the pads go i have used the acupads(almost the same as the hart pads just didn't have the better triggers in them)my personal preference led me to playing pintech concertcast pads instead, but i do have some yamaha pads on my kit as well for cymbal triggers(4 tp-60's,1 tp-80,and 1 bp80) it really just depends on what you're looking to get out of an e-drum set,and what you want to be able to do with it,in my opinion though it would be hard to find another drum module to do all of what the dtxpress can do for the price just my 2cents worth otacon28 --- In DTXpress@y..., "nikodite" <nikodite@y...> wrote: > Hi folks, > > I'm an experienced musician (20 yrs keys and guit) that just started > playing drums.
