Hi Cary, I'll maybe agree to being one of the more verbose members, but I am still learning too and don't feel up to guru level yet (far from it!). One of the primary reason I went to the AX14 was more real estate, but having dual triggers instead of the stereo TP80S or SE-102 is different. It will now give me multiple layers of voices to work with on both the main pad and on the rim, at the expense though of using an extra input. With the dual triggers, I decided to move my snare from my DTXpress module to my DTXV2 module, which gives me 5 layers of voices to work with per trigger. The first change I'm still working on is getting the right layering and voices set up on the main pad for a basic acoustic snare. When I had my stereo pads on the DTXpress, I had a similar setup, but only had two layers to work with on the main pad (I had ghost note and full snare), and one on the rim. At the lowest level I've got a sharp hit, low volume voice for my ghost notes, next level I build on the first voice with a little reverb and volume to fill it out, and lower the pitch a little, and so on up through the highest level (which currently I'm on the 4th level) which is my full snare sound. I copy this set up on my other kits that I want acoustic snare sounds - it gives a more realistic range of sounds as I go from very light hits through the range to hard pounding on the AX14. What I plan on doing for the rim is also set up multiple layers, with one layer set up for a cross stick sound and the other the sound I want as a rim shot and maybe a third if I can set it up right. I think it will take time to get that set up to my liking, and along the way I expect to learn more about what I can get the module to do, like maybe set up an interaction between the two triggers when they're triggered together to further shape the sound. Others in the group must have spent some time working on their snare setups - tell us about what you've done and lets help everyone improve their kits.
