Thanks Nick, Your yahoo account seems to be disabled so I'm posting my reply in the group. If anyone else has any ideas on this subject I'd appreciate them. That's just the kind of reassurance I was needing. I'll play with the kit for a bit then get my Cubase set-up organised. I was thinking about getting a mixer as most of the literature seems to suggest this. I'll be recording DTXpress (MIDI) Guitar, Bass and Vocals (Analog) and everything else (Strings etc) through a Roland EP9 (MIDI). I'll be doing these one at a time apart from possibly recording the drum part and playing it back at roll time. I have a Soundblaster Live card without the Front Panel. I don't want to spend much cash just yet but like the idea of controlling inputs without having to reach around the back of the PC. I'm not recording for release, just to put ideas down and then dish out the parts to the rest of the band. Do you think a small mixer such as the Phonic 1102 is a good idea? What are the real benefits of a mixer? Thanks in advance Cammy
