ok here's what advice i can give anyways, first off did you ever
consider a pintech ax-14 for a snare trigger pad?? now i noticed that
you mentioned of the striking noise on the head,so i figured i'd
mention to you that the pintech ax-14 has what is called silent tech
technology, and basically the sound is like a whisper compared to alot
of other non-mesh head triggers(basically think roland v-drums with
alot less head bounce when you hit it with a stick) they have 2 ply
heads on them, and track very well,i have one of these elec. snares
for my kit,and i love it,also walt is another user on here, and he has
one as well, and seems to be equally happy with his ,also mentioning
walt,he also has a hart eII's cymbal for his kit,and has said to me
on numerous occassions how much he likes it as well.. just a few
thoughts that may help you out..
