How sensitive are TP80S?

2002-09-17 by clementpoon

Hello all,

I just joined the group recently. I have been purchasing my DTXpress
piece by piece. I now have the brain, 1 TP80, 1 TP80S, and 2 PCY80S.
My question is regarding the TP80S: how sensitive is the rim portion
of it? I've noticed that it takes a considerable strike for the rim
to react (at least compared to the rest of the drum), and also, the
rim is NO WHERE near as sensitive as the rim on both my PCY80S'.

I am just wondering if I should just return it to the store while I
still got time (I already returned a PCY60 to this store because it
had very wonky response).

I've tried playing with the sensitivity dial on the bottom of the
pad, to no avail. I've also tried plugging in my PCY to the snare
port, and no problems triggering both rim and main sound from it.

I am watching the triggering menu, and it seems the rim only reacts
to hits with at least 31% velocity. Do I have wonky TP80S, or is
this normal? OH yeah, when I bought it, it already had stick marks
on it (no box or cable either).

Thanks!!
