I'd like to add that while I wasn't crazy about the hi-hat feel at first, I quite like it now. I've learned to anticipate my open notes more. I've also found that, because the distance between open and closed is smaller than real hats, some unexpected cool variations can be had by just relaxing the foot a little. The "cymbals" open a little when I'm not expecting. It sounds cool, I think.
