Re: DTXpress layered sounds

2000-02-07 by Giles Hearn

Hi Paul
I'm at work right now so this is from memory.

Each pad on the DTXpress can have 2 separate voices
assigned to it. These are referred to as V1 and V2
If you press the Voice button, and then hit the snare
pad - you'll be in the Snare edit area. On the
display, top line, furthest on the right there's a
setting that looks like V=1 or something.
If you select this entry (using the Select button),
you can change it (using the Value button) to V=2.
Then, all your parameters below this page (as you
scroll down using the Page button) will pertain to
this new voice. Your V2 sound will probably start off
at "No Assign", so change it to another snare.
Remember, all the settings will refer to V2 as long as
V=2 is at the top of the display. If you want to
change any of the first voice's parameters, you'll
need to reselect V1.

Because the brain defaults to showing V1 in the
display, there is no way to tell if a pad has got 1 or
2 voices other than going into the Voice section and
actually pressing the Select->Value buttons. If V2
shows "No Assign", then it's a single voice pad.
