Hi Jim, If you check out Hart's website, specifically the module section, you'll notice that Peter Hart has some nice things to say about the Yamaha modules vis a vis the Alesises and the Rolands. He wouldn't do that if his pads were fundamentally incompatible with them. Most small edrum companies tend toward Roland as a benchmark, presumably because of market share. Pintech does the same thing, plugging the Roland modules and ignoring other options. But Pintech pads and cymbals are very happy in a Yamaha environment, and Pintech would have it no other way. But what I said in my reply to the Roland post applies here as well. There's no guarantee that you're going to like a particular company's pad through your electronics. Trial and error is unavoidable at this stage of the game. What pleases one drummer may not satisfy another. I've seen Hart kits mated with the Alesis DM5/Pro, ddrum modules, Rolands, etc. One person whose opinion may well be worth hearing on the subject is Ed Morin's at Drumbalaya. He seems to have tried every combination under the sun, and he puts together interesting mix/match kits.
