RE: [DTXpress] Has anyone gotten the pc/midi working?

2003-01-08 by Erik Dobbelsteijn

Hi,

: Hi, i don't think Cool Edit Pro can record midi data, i guess
: it's for audio
: recording only, even that Syntrillium homepage claims that it
: can playback
: midi files.

You're absolutely right, that's why I referred to it separately
('multitracker' is a misleading word, I now realize. It used to refer to
programs that allow you to put samples on several tracks, but it is also
used for midi sequencers nowadays).

: What you need is some sequencer that can record midi data,
: cakewalk, cubase,
: logic or similar, i havent yet tested midi recording with
: DTXpress myself so
: this is just theory but basicly you just hook things together with midi
: cables, set DTXpress to send mididata (don't know how...) and set
: sequencer
: to record, that should do it.

Correct. See page 25/26 of the Basic Guide.

: I have played with midi gears many years and so far it's been
: really easy to
: get working, only thing is that if DTX doesn't send midi data by
: default you
: need to set it to do so, i just got my DTXpress set few days ago
: so i havent
: have time to investigate all possibilities yet, i'll try this tonight and
: post more info tomorrow, if needed.

Have a nice night (you might even try to get some sleep before tomorrow ;-)
