I wonder whether Yamaha, in the guise of being user-friendly, created a defeatable link between certain snares and rims with the idea that more often than not, drummers will be grateful for it. Whatever the inconvenience of that strategy, it is a royal pain to try and match rims and snares through the older modules. Rather than hunt and peck, I'll bet that I might well have taken them up on their suggestions if I'd had them--especially if they were defeatable.
