If you have a KP60, try this before anything else.

Get yourself a Pearl Quad Beater for your kick pedal.  It's a beater
that has four different sides to it, all shaped differently.  Use the
side that is felt and horizontally cylindrical.  Positioning is key
here. Try to get the beater to strike the pad precisely in the center,
as flat as square as possible.

I did this and haven't had a lick of trouble with my KP60 since (about
six months with no dropped triggers).

I know this might sound flakey to some, but my KP60 was just like
everyone else's.  It dropped about every fourth trigger after I had it
only a week.  I haven't opened it up, sent it back, changed cables,
anything.  Just changed the beater and adjusted it as described above.
