Hi Herb, This is a little out of my realm. I've never used Protools, but maybe my ignorance will help set the ball rolling. First of all, congratulations. The Protools stuff is serious recording and production--whether you have the HD or the mix versions. Doesn't Protools give you the option of taking the DTX as an audio instrument or as a MIDI source? Can't you treat them on the same level in the software? A drummer might want to record via audio, but MIDI will certainly allow more control, and you can get the final sounds from anywhere you like once you're in Protools. Sorry, I'm sure this isn't much help, but it must be wonderful to have questions about such great equipment.
