It's important to try and pin down what component is actually the source of the distortion. If, as you mention, you are running through a mixer, there is a good chance the output from your DTX is overloading the input channels or maybe on of your effects? It could be a low amount of Mw (Milli watts) of output power from the headphone amp in the mixer, it could be any of the devices. Also, headphones are very subjectivbe. What someone may find acceptable others may not. Maximum DB of sound level, frequency response, comfort, uniform, flat frequency response across the spectrum, all these are important to how it sounds, but only to *you*! :) It might be best if you describe what it is you are using them for (rehersal? mixing? monitoring during recording?) that would help determine what you need. In the short term, I would examine all the components in the chain between you and your source of sound to see if you can pin down where the distortion is being introduced, as it usually isn't the phones themselves in my experience.. :) Vern -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you?
