Hi Dave,

I'll spell Vern for a moment. You should be able to operate the kit 
without any dropouts, or any beyond a reasonable amount of digital 
hiccuping. That may mean experimenting with the rejection settings, 
as well as gain and minimum velocity settings, which can also have a 
hand in making pads susceptible to the vibrations that result in 
crosstalk. Judging from the kinds of problems DTXpress owners were 
having with their modules out of the box, your disabling of specific 
rejection probably was at least a temporary fix for the 
problematical interaction between snare and hi hat. If setting it at 
0 works for you, that's great; the less rejection the better. As 
Vern aptly put it, rejection mutes a pad for a short period, but 
short as it is, silence is not the reason why we whack these things. 
If a trigger's rejection setting is too high, then its ability to 
make noise when other events are taking place on the rack becomes 
constrained. A snare's specific rejection of the hi hat at, say, 8 
means that when snare and hi hat are hit at the same time, the force 
registered on the snare must exceed 8 for it to make the requisite 
noise. More often than not, it won't.

As for the question about whether a separate hi hat stand would 
eliminate crosstalk, yes, it would. Many of us have gone the route 
of placing our snares on their own stands partly for that reason. 
Mine, for example, has no rejection settings, an immense gain, and 
an ultra-low minimum velocity. Regarding the hi hat, have you heard 
about the Visu-lite hi hat, which works on a traditional hi hat 
stand (shameless plug)?
