Simple solution, The problem is in the set-up of the voice, VOICE menu KIT section TYPE on right of screen. This is the setting for the number of voices any one pad can have playing at the same time, mono - one voice semi - 3 or 4 voices poly - limited only by the DTXpress, 32. Some of the factory settings set these as mono or semi, so that you do not run out of notes if you have many long samples playing together. The hi hat is set to mono because that's how it needs to be, likewise a crash cymbal could be mono because you only really get one big hit each time you play it. I have most of my pads set to semi, except for snare, ride and bass which are poly and hi hat which is mono, this works for me, others may have a different set-up. Find the setting I have mentioned and your troubles should be over. -----Original Message----- From: Yves Gazin <yves.gazin@...> To: DTXpress@egroups.com <DTXpress@egroups.com> Date: 26 September 2000 08:51 Subject: [DTXpress] An observation >Hallo there, > >I'm a Belgian guy owning the DTXpress for about 6 months now and following this group for 4 months. Currently I'm struggeling a bit with the MIDI stuff but I'll chew on it for some more time and turn to you later on. There's another thing though I'd like to mention. > >You all know the factory settings have a very short decay on all the sounds, making the tiny and flat. Putting a longer decay on the hihat gives you a much nicer and controlable sound. > >Maybe there's a reason for the short decay. When you play a sound that sounds for some time (ough, something wrong about the choice of words), a tom or cymbal, you'll notice that once hitting it hard, followed shortely by a soft hit, the firrst sound is cut. Quit an unrealistic reaction compared to an acoustic kit (but we don't compare an electronic kit to an acoustic one, do we?) but also very anoying if you have some crosstalk between different pads and on sound is suddely cut when hitting an onther pad, resulting in a very soft sound and thus cutting the original sound. > >Anybody gets what I mean? It's abit like in the old synth days where you could play only one note and the previous was cut playing the next. Any setting to change this behaviour? > >Greetings, > >Yves > > > >Community email addresses: > Post message: DTXpress@onelist.com > Subscribe: DTXpress-subscribe@onelist.com > Unsubscribe: DTXpress-unsubscribe@onelist.com > List owner: DTXpress-owner@onelist.com > >Shortcut URL to this page: > http://www.onelist.com/community/DTXpress >
