Re: [DTXpress] Song Pads (one for Andy, maybe)

2000-10-03 by Sanctum

Strange, must be a function of the brain settings, try this:

Each voice is recorded to a midi note number, if you set up one voice on
note "34" for instance, then change another pad to trigger the same note
number, you instantly have two pads triggering the same voice.
The best thing about this is that when you record a song, you actually
record which note number was being triggered, not which pad or voice.
Maybe the best way to achieve what you're looking for is to set up your
snare sound to a note number you won't normally use, record your pattern,
then assign that note number to say, the bass drum rim trigger, "rim 1", now
if you change the note number on "pad 5" it's settings will have nothing to
do with note "34" so you should get your personal snare sound no matter
what.

Hope that works, I know it's not quite what you're looking for, but I use
this technique to have a full drum kit set up on the rim triggers (which I
don't use whilst playing) which I've previously recorded to a song, then I
can play the song in background whilst I overplay with a different kit.

I think I've mentioned this before, long, long ago. Hope some of the
newcomers to this board can see how the DTXpress actually has far more
flexibility than you first realise.
Andy
