The recording I do is for pleasure only. I will record a pre-recorded song into one track. I will then play that back in monitor mode only (so that I can hear it to play with)and send audio out from my mixer into the d1200 for recording of drum tracks only. I can then go back and listen to the song only, drum tracks only or both. Since it's all for fun, I rarely permanently keep anything that gets burned to a cdr. Although as halloween approaches I will be making some home made sound tracks for our annual haunted yard that will burned to cd's. This is the first year I will be trying it, since I have only had the D1200CD a few months now. Maybe somebody with digital recording experience will jump in and volunteer some advice to help you out. OGD
