Alternate suggestion: see your local car stereo install shop for some pieces of " Dynamat" or similiar. This is a noise damping material that has an adhesive backing. It is used inside car doors etc. to kill metallic resonance and vibration so that speakers can perform. "Dynamat" is a brand name, but there are several products like it: black, flexible, rubber-like and about 3-5 mm thick. Easily cut with scissors or a sharp blade, this stuff really works !
