Hi Alex,

The SP version of III does indeed seem worth waiting for--if the wait
isn't too long. The modifications to the cymbals, hat, rack, and
brain (to the extent that we know of them) speak well of it. Yamaha
central has informed us personally that it will arrive on these
shores sometime in January. As for the UK, I would assume a similar
ETA.

But this degree of improvement promised by the III SP comes at a
price--hundreds of dollars more than either the II or the III STD,
which will resemble its predecessor (except for new rack and somewhat
altered module). If you are one of the lucky ones to find a II at a
discount price, and your budget would be strained with the full price
of the II, or that of its more elaborate successor, you could do
worse than pursue the bird in hand.
